Relaxing & Expressing yourself

hi there sorry about the lack of post a few late nights at work and a few late hard hitting hangovers are the reason. any the post for today is about relaxing and expressing yourself currently starting to write stand up. its on my bucket list and will completely get out of my comfort zone. i heard its a therapeutic and relaxing way to get out your thoughts and many of the best comedians of all time such as George Carlin and Richard Pryor used it as a therapy and made fun of there own lives and issues and frustrations for the medium of comedy, you may ask wtf are you going on about?? what’s this got to do with relaxing?!?!.

As a teenager i used to stress out i used to be a perfectionist, be really defensive i used to be frustrated every time i lost something or didn’t do something right. then one of my support workers introduced me to music therapy. its almost like a form of meditations and clears your mind of whatever thought process is going on in your (or my dyspraxic mind). due to me having problems with organisation of thought its important that you stay relaxed and have a clear mind.

my mind works differently to most peoples and our thoughts and actions can get cluttered so its important that you can express yourself in the right way. we live in such an egotistical society we almost get told how to act without fully finding ourselves which leaves people being fake.

i feel by me writing this blog and expressing my true feelings by starting to write stand up i can work out how to use my negative energy or feelings and turn them to a positive productive manner. other ways of relaxing and expressing yourselves which may be beneficial for dyspraxic’s (or anyone for that matter)

drama: similar to stand up you get to focus all your built up energy into something which is very expressive and also relaxing in most instances.

exercise: personally exercise is a great way to relieve any stress going on in your life anything from a walk round the park to a intensive workout can be good for your mind and your health.

diary: a diary can be almost a good (and sane) way to almost talk to yourself and remind you how your day was and how you were feeling at the time. This is another good way of expressing why you felt what you felt and the actions which you felt necessary which relieves any tension built up inside almost like a diary.

ill leave you with this quote:

Why Always Me?

Why always me!?!?

Being an introvert dyspraxic I tend to like to keep myself to myself and try to stay in line when at work, university etc.  But being dyspraxic I have come across the issue that we always make the same mistakes in life, such as organisation, i.e. being late for work or finding it hard to consistently stick to a devised timetable, forgetfulness, forgetting where you put important documents and items, handing in assignments early to not remembering the hand in date and even “standing up” a girl due to forgetting I was meant to be meeting someone, and general clumsiness with movement such as falling face first in the middle of a nightclub sober, dropping meals all over customers at work (most embarrassing thing I’ve done).

All our flaws build up and draw, in most cases unwanted attention. Whether it’s your mates thinking you’re mentally stupid, where it’s your job questioning your work rate thinking you’re lazy and not working up to your full potential, or whether you’re in education and have lecturers and or teachers not getting their head round why you act a certain way.

For me it was hard as a teenager as I was naturally clumsy and it affected my self confidence and I ended up becoming withdrawn by it. But then I realised to myself am I blaming my dyspraxia or is part of the problem me. I realised that I can work of my weaknesses and any issues caused dyspraxia instead of constantly using it as an excuse.

The moral of why always me is no one’s perfect and people have much more serious issues than learning difficulties. So weather you have a learning difficulties a physical or mental disability or handicap, or even a personal issue in your life, accept your imperfections because 1. As said before no one’s perfect 2. Without them you wouldn’t be you.

I’ll leave you with a 20 min video link from one of my favourite you tubers, vagabondsteve and he explains how to accept your imperfections

Life Decisions/ Career Decisions

Image

we all come to that point in our lives especially when in our early/mid 20s when we have to make life career decisions. what do you enjoy? what are your strengths what are your weaknesses, where do you see your career path going??

I’m currently going through this now im recently finished higher education, still with no real skills and no knowledge of what i want to do. im scared that i will make the wrong decision. i dont feel ready for a fully blown career but at the same time i want to live and little before a commit to a fully blown career.

its a difficult but exciting time of your lives but once you make a decision it got to be stuck with. i feel we always get told to strive to be the best but what if your not sure what you want to do in life yet?? what if your in education just working towards nothing in particular?? how can you focus?? how can you meet your goals in life.

i think as a society there is so much pressure for us to succeed and pass all these exams & tests but the biggest test of all which no one can prepare you for and which they dont teach you at school is entering the real world.

Everything from buying renting a property, credit checks, paying bills, budgeting, career paths, pension plans are all things which are push upon you once your in the real world in the space of two months. You can blame the system but you can roll with the punches and get on with life and be content with whatever you end up doing . just some food for thought.
